First admitted to the bar in 1994, Cullen McKinney serves as a founding partner at Tanoury, Nauts, McKinney & Garbarino, PLLC, a Michigan-based law firm focused on defending hospitals and medical professionals against malpractice claims. Alongside his day-to-day activities as an attorney, Cullen McKinney maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the Michigan Society of Healthcare Risk Management (MSHRM).

As part of its mission to support Michigan professionals involved in healthcare risk management, MSHRM oversees quality educational programming, including a spring and fall meeting and the MSHRM Annual Conference. Now in its fifth decade, the Annual Conference brings together members for three days of networking and learning activities.
In 2018, the event took place May 23-25 at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme, Michigan. Conference activities included a golf outing, an educational presentation on HIPAA, and an evening reception. The conference also featured a business meeting and panel discussion as well as a case scenario simulation and mock deposition exploring the investigation and litigation of a serious safety event in a healthcare setting.
MSHRM is now looking ahead to its 40th Annual Conference, which will be held May 22-24, 2019. Other upcoming events include the MSHRM Fall Program in October 2018 and the MSHRM Spring Program in March 2019. Additional information is available at www.mshrm.org.
