Access to Justice Campaign to Adopt Centralized Fundraising Model

A civil defense litigation attorney with more than two decades of experience, Cullen McKinney serves as a founding partner of Tanoury Nauts McKinney & Garbarino in Detroit, Michigan. Cullen McKinney belongs to the State Bar of Michigan (SBM), which provides civil legal aid to the state’s impoverished community through the Access to Justice (ATJ) Campaign.

The campaign works to ensure an accessible and fair justice system within the state of Michigan by making available resources for 16 statewide and regional civil aid programs. Administered by the Michigan State Bar Foundation, ATJ represents a collaborative effort in partnership with SBM. Fundraising models utilized by the campaign are undergoing a transition to a centralized approach designed to provide people in poverty equal access to justice, regardless of their locale. In addition, the centralized model will enable the ATJ to improve the coordination of fundraisers and deliver a more consistent statewide message.
Campaign organizers plan to launch a comprehensive new website for ATJ that highlights the contributions of civil legal aid agencies throughout the state. It will also showcase campaign donors. Until the website’s launch, the ATJ will continue to accept donations through mail, fax, and online via its page on the SMB website.
